The annual invasion of midges, a type of small fly, has hit Cleveland. Midges emerge from large bodies of water, like Lake Erie, during warmer months. Although the bugs are annoying, they signal the lake is in good health. To learn more about midges, why they travel in swarms and how they differ from mayflies, ideastream's Rick Jackson spoke with Jake Kudrna, a naturalist with the Cleveland Metroparks.
