Last year, Columbus was awarded $50 million from the U.S. Department of Transportation and Microsoft-co-founder Paul Allen's Vulcan Foundation. The plan was to develop a comprehensive "Smart city" transportation strategy.
Now, the city government, the business community and Ohio State University are collaborating to turn the broad vision of the grant proposal into concrete innovations.
Its goals include alleviating congestion, reducing pollution, and enhancing mobility for everyone; in ways that make Columbus healthier, and more prosperous.
