In 2017. nearly two million new jobs were created and the unemployment rate fell to a 17-year low of 4.1 percent. However, those numbers don't tell the whole story - and jobs and job creation remain a leading concern for legislators, corporate leaders, and Americans alike.
As we continue to move through the digital age, the dialogue around jobs is two-fold: how to support job creation in the new, digital economy that is attractive to investors and leaders and how to support and re-train workers whose jobs were lost to declining industries and automation.
Congressman Ro Khanna is in the unique position to address both of these concerns. Representing Silicon Valley, home to some of the wealthiest entrepreneurs, he is intimately aware of the needs of technology companies. But he's also supportive of a universal job guarantee, an idea first proposed by President Franklin D. Roosevelt and currently championed by many progressive Democrats.
