HRUBY FAMILY: Nearly 100 years ago, Nikolai Sokoloff, the founding conductor of the then Cleveland Symphony Orchestra went looking for musicians for their inaugural performance. What he found was a family of eight gifted musicians named Hruby living in the neighborhood of Slavic Village. Four of the siblings would be a part of that first performance. In all, six members of the Hruby family would perform with the Orchestra for more than 30 years.
ARTIST SUSAN ZALKIND: Over a prolific career spanning nearly four decades, Susan Zalkind and her late husband Paul Hawkins are recognized as pioneers of contemporary American, abstract, and functional alabaster sculpture. known for hand gathering the rarest of colored and translucent alabasters from the deserts of the American southwest, their sculptures honor the shape and beauty of each stone.
ARTIST TERRY DOUGHTY: For nationally known wildlife artist Terry Doughty, the natural beauty he finds around Wisconsin easily makes its way to his canvases. Doughty's love for hunting and fishing serve as both an inspiration and great references for his paintings, and helps his viewers step into the scenes.
