Symbols of Power; The Sacred Lute; Photographer Mark Gunter; Massillon Museum Expansion

SYMBOLS OF POWER: As the Cleveland Museum of Art celebrates its Centennial this year, it's released a number of scholarly books. Earlier this year, we showed you the lovely Silent Poetry book and exhibit about the museum's collection of Chinese painting. We spotlight another major catalog - this one, focusing on CMA's vast collection of Islamic Textiles and book Symbols of Power.

SACRED LUTE: For centuries, one of the leading manufacturers of rugs and textiles was the Kingdom of Persia, in the country known today as Iran. Another well-known export from that region dating back to the sixth century is an instrument called the lute and “oud,” that literally means wood. We profile a celebrated Iranian born musician and philosopher Ostad Elahi.

PHOTOGRAPHER MARK GUNTER: For, Fashion Photographer Mark Gunter, being on point is not just about getting the perfect shot but about creating the perfect brand.

MASSILLON MUSEUM EXPANSION: About 60 miles south of Cleveland, in Massillon - known as the "City of Champions" - the Massillon Museum is expanding to honor one of its own, legendary football coach Paul Brown.
