The Cuyahoga Metropolitan Housing Authority (CMHA) and the City of Cleveland are partnering on a plan to rebuild Woodhill Homes, with City Architecture as the architect.
The current buildings at Woodhill date to 1940 and some have not been significantly updated since.
The plan would replace all the buildings at Woodhill in phases, likely beginning in 2021. CMHA has promised that no buildings will be demolished until new ones have been built to replace them, leaving no residents displaced during construction. Some of the new buildings will be off-site, in the surrounding neighborhood. The project also is one of five nationwide finalists for a $35 million grant from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Cleveland City Councilman Blaine Griffin, who represents Woodhill’s Ward 6, has said the plan to rebuild must move forward, with or without the federal funding.
The interactive map below shows what's planned and where. Mouse over the pinpoints to learn more.
