Update: In a Thursday evening news release, police announced they had charged Brandon Jones, Devon Turner, Darien Jones and Paul Turner in connection with the fatal shooting. The charges were filed in Cleveland Heights Municipal Court. Officers announced on Wednesday they had arrested five people.

Outside Brennan’s Colony bar on Lee Road stands a makeshift memorial for Jim Brennan. Along with flowers and notes, it now includes a poster thanking police for the arrests.

Bill Mitchell owns a chocolate shop a few doors down. While he said he’s glad for the arrests, he’s also puzzled by several things, including the number of suspects and the circumstances of the shooting.

"You scratch your head that somebody does this on a Monday at one o’clock. He’s closed during the week, except on weekends. They were obviously – somebody knew something," Mitchell said.

He said he thinks the incident was isolated and the neighborhood is generally safe, but people still need to be vigilant. He has welcomed new security cameras in the area, and a planned streetscape improvement project that will add more lighting.
