Mark Pennell Retires
Mid-day host Mark Pennell retires this June after 24 years of service to WKSU.
After years in commercial radio, Pennell discovered public radio and started hosting classical music at WOSU in Columbus. He came to WKSU in 1996 hosting classical music, and, after a programming change, he became the voice of the mid-day hours.
In recent years, Pennell created Mark's Almanac, a 90 second segment that highlights what happened in history that day. The segment can range from serious to whimsical facts and makes for a great history lesson every day. Although he is retiring, Pennell will continue to create Mark's Almanac from his home studio giving listeners a chance to still hear his voice.
After announcing his retirement, hundreds of listeners sent their congratulations and memories. You can view some of them in a digital scrapbook shared with Mark.
