First Lady Karen Kasich has given the Ohio Association of Second Harvest Foodbanks a check for 95 thousand dollars. The money will go for the weekend backpack program that makes sure hungry kids have food when they are not in school. Kasich says this program is important.
"And when the child doesn't have food, sure that child lacks basic nutrition, but they lack in so many other things: safety, security," she says. " They can't exercise their minds or their bodies the way that they need to if they are worried about their basic needs which is, obviously, food and shelter. So, the governor and I are particularly pleased that we can present to Lisa and to the Second Harvest Food Banks this check."
The money donated by the first lady comes from money leftover in the inaugural transition account.
