Death is a topic most of us don’t like to discuss. But these days the medical care delivered to dying patients is a subject getting lots of attention. Starting next year, Medicare wants to pay doctors to have conversations with patients about end of life care. And proposed legislation to help clarify and simplify decision-making has been introduced both at the federal and state level here in Ohio. For the next few months, our Be Well health team will be exploring ways to help people navigate our continually changing and complex healthcare system, and as part of the series, health producer Kay Colby talks with ideastream’s Anne Glausser about advanced directives.
