The LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland is the third-oldest in the country, having served the local Lesbian, Gay, Bi-Sexual and Transgender community since 1975. In that time, it's shuttled between leased storefronts, from Cleveland Heights to Cleveland's Detroit-Shoreway neighborhood. This past week, the Center got word of two donations that will sustain the organization into the future. Administrative and Finance Director Cindy Yu says these gifts add up to 2.3 million dollars
CINDY YU: This is the largest donation we've received in 39 years.
An anonymous donor gave 1.8-million for the purchase and rehabilitation of a stand-alone building, while also helping boost staff and programming. The Maltz Family Foundation committed another half-million in the form of a matching grant to support the Center's endowment.
