Ohio's unemployment rate stayed level last month at 4.2 percent, the same as in September.
It's an improvement from a year ago in October 2018, when the unemployment rate was 4.6 percent.
Ohio’s numbers remain higher than the national rate. The U.S. unemployment rate was 3.6 percent in October, a slight increase from September but a slight decrease from the year before.
Ohio’s Job and Family Services Department (OJFSD) says state and local government added 3,000 jobs. Leisure and hospitality also saw job gains of 2,400, while educational and health services gained 2,300 jobs.
Meanwhile, the manufacturing sector lost the same amount between September and October. Nonagricultural industries lost 1,000 jobs, as did construction.
OJFSD also reports that losses in construction and manufacturing once again exceeded gains in mining and logging.
