Ford stages job fair to find it's own workers new jobs

Ford Motor Company has already downsized its' workforce through buyouts and retirements.
But that hasn't been enough - so this Ford workers-only job fair is the company's attempt to showcase their employees to firms that can use the talents they've developed.

Ford Strategy Analyst Nate Meadows says the personnel reduction is something the firm desperately needs.

MEADOWS: "Ford needs to match the number of people to the number of jobs and unfortunately the number of cars that we built are decreasing, and so the number of people that are needed to produce those vehicles are decreasing as well."

Ford found 40 regional companies to take part, from Joy Mining and Arcelor Mittal, to high tech and health care employers.
Many will be taking job applications at the fair. Meadows says the high tech companies could especially benefit from Ford's overabundance of skilled computer operators, production staff, and technicians.

MEADOWS: "They excel in that type of team environment. It requires them to produce as a team. They're work-hardened employees, they're loyal and dedicated. They have all kinds of assests that can translate into many different industries."

The hope from area leaders is that finding jobs here - might keep these workers from fleeing Ohio - for new jobs.
