Northeast Ohio voters say security should be a top priority for Cleveland ahead of the Republican National Convention, according to a recent poll.
The online panel survey of 530 voters conducted by Baldwin Wallace University found that 73 percent of respondents listed security among their top three concerns. Also on the list were the ability to handle visitors, road improvements and public transportation.
“Some of the responses in the open-ended questions showed that people are concerned about the growing anti-Trump movement,” Baldwin Wallace professor Lauren Copeland said, “as well as any protests that might occur because of the brokered convention that is becoming increasingly likely.”
About half of respondents said they were excited about the RNC. In answers to a separate question, an equal portion also said they were less likely to visit downtown Cleveland during the convention.
