Vice President Joe Biden in Columbus: Don't Blame Victims of Sexual Assault

by Andy Chow

Vice President Joe Biden made a trip to the Ohio State University’s campus, calling for a change in American culture when it comes to sexual assault.

Biden was promoting the “It’s On Us” campaign, which challenges everyone to stand up against rape and domestic violence. He said one way is to stop assigning blame with insulting questions.

“It’s never appropriate to ask, ‘What were you wearing? Why were you there? What did you say? What made him think?’ They’re all the wrong questions,” Biden said. “The question we as a nation have to ask repeatedly is, ‘what made him think he had a right to raise his hand.”

And Ohio State says its students will soon start new sexual violence awareness training. As for the rumors surrounding Biden’s future plans, he didn’t drop any hints about a presidential run.
