Cooper International Piano Competition: Robert Shannon, director

The Cooper International Piano Competition will take place from July 17-26, 2014.

Participants will compete in four rounds in Warner Concert Hall at the Oberlin Conservatory of Music. The fourth, fifth, and sixth prizes of $1,000 each, and the Audience Prize of $500 will be presented at the conclusion of the Recital Final Round in Oberlin (elimination round), on Wednesday, July 24.

The top three finalists will compete on Friday, July 25, for first, second, and third prizes in performance of complete concerti with the Cleveland Orchestra in Severance Hall in Cleveland, Ohio. The first prize of $10,000, the second prize of $6,000, and third prize of $3,000 will be awarded that evening. The top three competitors also will be awarded full four-year scholarships to the Oberlin Conservatory of Music, pending admission.

Semi-Finals Round I: Saturday, July 19 to Sunday, July 20
Semi-Finals Round II: Monday, July 21
Concerto Round: Tuesday, July 22
Recital Finals: Wednesday, July 23 at 7:00PM. Six finalists will perform for about 30 minutes each in a program selected by the judges. At the conclusion of this round, prizes for fourth, fifth, and sixth place will be announced. This round will be broadcast live on WCLV.
Concerto Finals: Friday, July 25 at 8:00PM. The three remaining finalists will perform their complete concerti with the Cleveland Orchestra at Severance Hall. At the conclusion of this round, prizes for first, second, and third place will be awarded. This round will also be broadcast live on WCLV.
