Exhibition runs through July 31.
Zygote Press
1410 E. 30th Street

In partnership with the Rasmuson Foundation Residency Exchange program, the exhibit will include works by Alaskan artist, educator, and current artist in residence at Zygote Press, Jimmy (James) Riordan, as well as local artist Melissa Daubert.

Riordan will be showing work related to his many explorations of text, specifically the printing and binding of his translation of Le Roman du Lievre, as well as works made prior to his residency relating to the book and its author.

Daubert will be exhibiting "My String Calendar for Homer, Alaska", work inspired by the Dena' ina, an indigenous people of South Central, Alaska who track time by tying knots in a piece of sinew each day. Special days like births or anniversaries are remembered by tying on a bead, bit of cloth or feather. Daubert used the string calendar, connecting a sculpture to the string each day, to document time during the residency in Homer, Alaska..
