Republican Governor Elect John Kasich has tapped another familiar face for a top office. Former Franklin County Auditor Joe Testa has been chosen to be Ohio's next tax commissioner. Kasich says he chose Testa because he's hard working and honest.
Kasich and Testa say the state's tax department now finds itself trying to put a square peg in a round hole many times. For example, Kasich says many cities offer tax increment financing to lure businesses but the state doesn't have a mechanism for that. Therefore, Kasich explains, tax payments are often confusing and take longer to process. Testa was Franklin County's Auditor from 1992 to 2009.
