Changing Gears: The Film Factory

Towns and cities across the Midwest are trying to look like mini Hollywoods, thanks to generous tax incentives that have attracted dozens of film crews.
But California still dominates the $57 billion film industry - and some are asking whether Great Lakes states are offering too much.

"Changing Gears" is a new collaboration of public radio stations examining efforts to transform the Midwest economy. And one idea is to make the region a film factory. Picking up
the story are Kate Davidson of Michigan Public Radio in Ann Arbor, Dan Bobkoff of WCPN in Cleveland and Niala Boodhoo of Chicago Public Radio.
