For the first time last week, the city of Cleveland celebrated Jewish American Heritage Day. Today there are about 80,000 Jews in northeast Ohio, but in the early part of the 19th century there were virtually none. Those early immigrants in the 1830's, lived and worked in the area behind what's now Tower City. Ideastream's Eric Wellman reports that land where a casino will soon be built was once the center of Jewish life in northeast Ohio.
