Voinovich took to the Senate floor to praise Sotomayor’s immigrant biography as well as her experience as a federal judge. He said she is more qualified than most of the justices currently on the high court.
VOINOVICH: “Judge Sotomayor’s decisions, while not the decision I would render, are not outside the legal mainstream and do not indicate an obvious desire to legislate from the bench.”
At the same time, Voinovich blasted the partisan gamesmanship that has dominated the selection process – criticizing both fellow Republicans and President Obama. The two-term Republican is taking his third vote for a nominee, he retires next year.
