Finding Talent Remains Top Challenge Say Ohio Employers

For the eighth straight year Ohio employers' say one of their biggest challenges biggest challenge is attracting and retaining top talent, according to a survey by local human resources company ERC. Marty Mordarski, is the director of research and membership at ERC and he says part of the problem is getting companies to be more progressive in their methods of recruitment.

MORDARSKI: It's not good enough to put a sign in your window that says help wanted, or maybe post a classified ad every couple of weeks. But many organizations are still using the same approaches they've used for 20 years, and the reality is times have changed.

The irony Mordarski explains is that even though employers are saying they can't find good people, the job market is saturated with people who say they can't find good jobs. The problem is bringing the two together. Companies that are the most successful use innovative and creative ways to attract potential employees, and create a direct link to their workforce through partnerships with universities and training programs.
