Dimora read from a statement and said he declined comment on the advice of his attorney.
DIMORA:"I am absolutely confident that when the dust clears my good name and reputation will also be cleared. But for now, however, the inquiry is in the hands of the federal government."
The county commissioner, who is also head of the county Democratic party, has not been charged.
A search warrant released by his fellow commissioners suggests Dimora is suspected of using his position to influence court cases and county building projects, political hirings, and using his office for party business.
Despite potential charges, the embattled commissioner joked with crowd and press that packed the meeting.
DIMORA:"Behind every dark cloud is a silver lining. This experience is certainly going to help me lose weight fast."
