Former Ohio Congressman Speaks on McCain's Economic Platform

Americans in Ohio and around the country are facing tough economic times, the former congressman from Cincinnati told the crowd in Cleveland. And he said he fears Obama’s strategy to raise individual and capital gains taxes will hurt entrepreneurs and innovators.

PORTMAN: It is concerning to me that we would take a step back. I like McCain’s approach better because he’s saying no – let’s unleash that innovation and inventiveness and let’s give people the ability to succeed.

Portman, who is rumored to be a potential running mate for McCain, said McCain’s proposal to lower taxes, foster more free trade, improve job training and increase energy resources is the better approach to move the country forward. He said he hopes Ohions will consider those differences carefully when the cast their vote. Gretchen Cuda 90.3
