As speakers at Cleveland's Martin Luther King branch library reminded an audience, yesterday, about the civil rights struggles of Dr King, County election workers were staffing information tables to answer questions about voting rights and procedures. For example, a worker from the Election Board's Outreach Department tried to take any mystery out of the new optical scan ballot system
WORKER: You'll be handed a ballot, you'll go into the voting booth, and you will fill-in the little circles with your choices. Somebody said it's just like taking a test, and I said, "Exactly".
The March primary will be a test of that optical scan system and the county's ability to manage the vote count efficiently. To that end, the Election Board is working to recruit poll workers --- especially in Parma, Independence, Brecksville, Strongsville, Solon and North Royalton.
