"Safe Passages Initiative" Help For Those Who Are Struggling With Addiction.

For the second year in a row, U.S. life expectancy has dropped.
As experts search for a reason many are attributing the change, to America's opioid epidemic.

Northeast Ohio has been especially hard hit by the crisis; and police departments across the region are finding innovative ways to stem the flow of drugs and get help to those who are struggling with addiction.

The Suburban Police Anti-Crime Network, made up of 5 east side police departments, is the latest consortium to launch a "Safe Passages Initiative".

This program encourages people with drug addictions to seek help, and expedites their placement into treatment.
