Criminal charges have been announced against the Cleveland man accused of imprisoning three women in his house for roughly a decade. And as ideastream's Brian Bull reports, there's more information about the women's treatment.
Victor Perez is the City of Cleveland Prosecutor. Facing dozens of journalists from across the globe, Perez cut to the chase:
“I’ve just signed criminal complaints charging Ariel Castro with four counts of kidnapping, and three counts of rape. The seven criminal complaints are first degree felonies.”
The abductees are Amanda Berry, Michele Knight, and Gina DeJesus. Berry also gave birth to a daughter six years ago, reportedly in an inflatable kiddie pool. Paternity tests are underway to determine the biological father.
Police say the captives only left Castro’s house twice during their captivity, and only to the garage, while disguised.
Meanwhile, no criminal charges were made against Castro’s two brothers, who were arrested the same night.
