The Ohio Associated Press reports that Cleveland's police chief believes the three women -- who went missing separately a decade ago -- were tied up in the house where they were found, and had been there since they disappeared.
Michelle Knight had been missing since 2002, Amanda Berry since 2003 and Gina DeJesus since 2004.
A neighbor says he was coming home from work and saw a woman pleading for help. He helped her pry open a door panel, which she crawled through. She then fled to the neighbor's house to call 911. The frantic woman then told the dispatcher that she was Amanda Berry, and to send in police.
Police say three brothers have since been arrested, and one is from the home. They say all three women were found Monday night, and one said she'd been kidnapped.
Police have released no names and given no details about the men or the charges they might face. The Plain Dealer says the owner of the house, Ariel Castro, was among those taken away by police.
The county prosecutor joined dozens of police officers and sheriff's deputies at the scene as they began searching the house late Monday.
Authorities say the women have been taken to a local MetroHealth hospital to reunite with relatives, and seem to be in good health. FBI investigators and Cleveland detectives plan to interview the women soon, to learn more about the case.
