Poll: Good News in Ohio for Ken Blackwell, Bad for Barack Obama

Ken Blackwell, the former Ohio Treasurer and Secretary of State who lost the 2006 Governor's race to Ted Strickland is the front runner among Republicans at the moment to challenge Democrat Sherrod Brown in the US Senate race. This poll has Blackwell support at 33 percent well ahead of state Treasurer Josh Mandel at 17 percent and former state senator Kevin Coughlin at five percent.Still the GOP nomination appears up for grabs since 43 percent are undecided. In head to head matchups against all three Republicans, Democrats Brown wins by 14 points or more thanks to big popularity among women.

The killing of Osama Bin Laden has given President Barack Obama very little bounce here according to this poll. 'Does the President deserve relection?' Before Bin Laden's death Ohioans were virtually split on that question. And the new poll shows an exact split.
