Medina County Voters Approve Sales Tax for Education

On Tuesday, voters in Medina County did something unprecedented in Ohio history: they approved a half-a-percent sales tax earmarked specifically for education. The money will be divided between all of the County's school districts based on their population. The measure's proponents see it as a way to keep property taxes in check. Dozens of communities throughout Northeast Ohio tried to raise money for schools the more conventional way, asking voters to approve a property tax increase. ideastream's Eric Wellman has more.
