Caroline Oltmanns, head of the Piano Department at the Dana School of Music at Youngstown State University, is also on the screening jury for the Cleveland International Piano Competition. Since moving to the United States from her native Germany in her mid-twenties, she has pursued an international career. She retains pleasant memories of her European music study and concert halls. But. as she tells WCLV's Jacqueline Gerber, American audiences can be much more welcoming.
