Your four candidates:

  1. Researchers in Israel have found that goldfish are capable of navigating on land, after training fish to drive in a mounted water tank called a Fish Operated Vehicle;
  2. Kizer, the hermit crab that escaped from his owners’ Houston home with his pal Pincher, and who was found three months later wandering next to a sidewalk down the street. Kizer is back home; Pincher remains at large;
  3. Azzurra, an old English bulldog who disappeared from his owner’s New York home five years ago, and who was recently found at a pet shelter 1,000 miles away in Tennessee;
  4. Buddy, the 2-year-old pit bull-terrier mix in Arizona, who had the great misfortune to insert his head through a hole in a cinder block, whereupon he became stuck. Technicians chiseled away at the blocks to free Buddy, but in the meantime, a dog on the other side bit Buddy several times on the head. Buddy was treated for the bites and returned to his owner.
