1893 Lili Boulanger – French composer (d.1918); younger sister of noted composer and composition teacher, Nadia Boulanger; despite her tragically early death (of Crohn's disease) at the age of 24, she was a highly regarded composer.

1931 Gregg Smith – American choral conductor (died July 12, 2016, age 84); founded the Gregg Smith Singers in 1955.

1933 Dame Janet Baker – English mezzo-soprano (85 years old); in a career which spanned the 1950s to the 1980s, was considered an outstanding singing actress and widely admired for her dramatic intensity in roles such as Dido, the tragic heroine of Berlioz's Les Troyens.
