The Pet News at 7:25 is a popular feature on WCLV's First Program, Monday through Friday mornings. So popular that WCLV listeners vote for the Pet News of the Week. Vote for one of the stories below by sending an e-mail to "queenofthemorn@gmail.com," or call Jacqueline Gerber on the WCLV Contest Line, 1-800-334-WCLV (1-800-343-9258) Saturday morning between 10 and noon. The winner will be announced on WCLV Monday morning, Oct. 18, at 7:20 a.m. EDT and posted here. Your candidatres are:

(1) Laiha, the 20-year-old woman hospitalized after attempting to rescue her dog Rusty from a thermal hot spring in Yellowstone National Park. Rusty did not survive, but Laiha is being treated for burns;

(2) The Bobby & Co. department store in Bournemouth, England, which has opened a food hall for dogs. It is called "Drool." Stands are at dog height and animals are given the opportunity to choose their favorite treats using dedicated sniffing holes. A sign on the wall says, "If you bite it, you buy it!"

(3) Liza, a 12-year-old dog from downstate New York, walking with her owner in a New York state park, was rescued this week after being trapped down a rocky crevice for five days without food or water. A cave rescue team from New Jersey ultimately used a plumbing camera and an extended catch pole to locate and retrieve Liza, who was brought to the surface safely.
