The Best of Bernstein

Leonard Bernstein was a man of his era whose legacy transcends time. He was at once a brilliant composer, a dynamic conductor, a sensitive pianist, a teacher, an activist, and a humanitarian. And underlying all was an uncanny, unmatched, ability to communicate.  The 3-CD set The Best of Bernstein is a celebration of his life in music.  This album is not available for purchase; you can only get it by supporting your non-commercial classical music station.

Twenty-six cuts on three CDs include selections from Bernstein’s Candide, West Side Story, On the Town, and Chichester Psalms, plus music by Copland, Stravinsky, Beethoven and Haydn; Bernstein as pianist and conductor in the Rhapsody in Blue and Mozart’s Concerto No. 17, and many other works, all conducted by Leonard Bernstein.  It’s yours with our thanks when you become a sustaining member of WCLV for $10 a month!  Call (877) 676-1049 and ask about The Best of Bernstein or become a WCLV member online at wclv.org.
