On September 20, Hurricane Maria raked the island of Puerto Rico, sapping power, flattening structures and laving mysery in its wake. To date, 45 deaths are blamed on the storm. Nearly a month later, only about 16-percent of the island has electricity and many Puerto Ricans are struggling for the basics: shelter, food, water, medicine and fuel.The local Puerto Rican community has galvanized to help the people of Puerto Rico survive in the short term and rebuild in the long term.
