Wednesday the Sound of Ideas takes a break as we broadcast Steve and Cokie Roberts' discussion at the City Club of Cleveland. They will be talking about their new book, "From This Day Forward" which chronicles their experiences as an interfaith couple and how they’ve made it work over the years. When they met in college, they both believed their different traditions—she is Catholic, he is Jewish—would prevent them from ever getting married. Yet in 1966, they found themselves together in the garden of Cokie’s girlhood home, standing under a flower-covered chuppah. Almost forty-five years later, they have learned not only to respect and reconcile the religious traditions they once thought might divide them, but to celebrate those traditions as well.
