In last week's episode, we learned about a teen who wants to move the Super Bowl from Sunday to Saturday. We asked you to persuade us why the Super Bowl should move to Saturday or why it should stay on Sunday. Here's what you had to say!
Kelsy, Ross Middle School in Hamilton:
I think it should be on Sunday because it is kinda like a tradition. For the past 52 years, every Super Bowl had one thing in common: they have all been on a Sunday. Also, it has always been on the first Sunday of February. Another reason is because some of the teams want 2 days to practice for the big game. Next, if you had to get ready for a super bowl party and you worked all week they couldn’t make foods and decorate but since it’s on Sunday they have all day Saturday and part of Sunday. I do think the other idea is good but for the reasons above I think it should stay on a Sunday.
Jack, Fort Meigs Elementary in Perrysburg:
I think the Super Bowl should be moved to the day Saturday because on Sunday for kids it’s a school night and the next day you could be all grouchy! I always can’t watch the whole Super Bowl because it's a school night and in the morning I have to watch highlights instead of the full game! That is why I think the Super Bowl should be moved to Saturday.
Zachary, Glenwood Intermediate in Canton: I think the Super Bowl should stay on Sunday because it is a tradition and you should not ruin a tradition. However, I do think it should begin earlier in the day. This is because it could negatively impact someone's day such as maybe people go to church on Sunday night and they could not watch it if they are at church. That is why I think the Super Bowl should stay on Sunday but, occur later in the day.
Kayla, Jefferson Elementary in Jefferson: I think the Super Bowl should be moved to Saturday. I think it should be moved to Saturday because then you would be able to stay up late instead of going to bed early for school the next morning. Also because then you could go to friends house and not just stay at home and Saturdays are my lucky days (I don´t know why they just are). Finally because then you can sleep in on Sunday and have a fun day ahead of you. That is why I think the Super Bowl should be moved to Saturday.
Allie, St. Anthony of Padua School in Parma: I think the Super Bowl should stay on Sunday because it is a tradition. But every school would get the Monday off because the Super Bowl goes very late at night. I always have to go to bed at halftime so, I never get to watch the whole game. I would definitely like to watch the whole game. Lots of kids watch the Super Bowl and it's inspiring to kids that would like to be a football player when they are older. That is why I think the Super Bowl should stay on Sunday.
