Project Loon

GETTING TECHNOLOGY BACK IN THE HANDS OF PUERTO RICANS IS STILL A BIG TASK.

MILLIONS OF PUERTO RICANS ARE STILL WITHOUT CELL SERIVCE AFTER HURRICANE MARIA DEVASTATED THE ISLAND LAST MONTH.

GIANT BALLONS - LIKE THIS ONE - COULD SOON BE FLOATING ACROSS PUERTO RICO... AND THEY MIGHT BE THE ANSWER TO ONE OF THE ISLAND'S BIGGEST PROBLEMS RIGHT NOW.

THE F-C-C HAS GIVEN APPROVAL FOR PROJECT LOON... WHICH USES BALLOONS TO HELP PROVIDE INTERNET SERVICE TO PEOPLE IN HARD-TO-REACH PLACES.

PUERTO RICANS COULD POSSIBLY GET A CELL SIGNAL ... BY CONNECTING THEIR PHONES TO THE BALLOONS.

BUT FIRST... A SPOKESPERSON SAYS LOON NEEDS TO INTEGRATE WITH A TEL-CO PARTNER'S NETWORK -- THE BALLOONS CAN'T DO ANYTHING UNTIL THEN.
