THIS WEEK, WE'D LIKE TO GIVE A SHOUT OUT TO A STUDENT WHO IS CULTIVATING COMPASSION IN HER COMMUNITY. MARGOT KING IS A FIFTH GRADER AT EMERSON ELEMENTARY, AND WHEN SHE WAS IN THIRD GRADE SHE ORGANIZED A SERVICE GROUP CALLED EMERSON CARES.
EMERSON CARES HAS ACCOMPLISHED MANY GREAT PROJECTS OVER THE PAST TWO YEARS, LIKE:
WRITING THANK YOU NOTES TO MEMBERS OF THE MILITARY
BAKING COOKIES FOR FIREFIGHTERS AND POLICE OFFICERS
HOLDING A DRIVE AT SCHOOL FOR TOYS, BOOKS, AND CRAYONS TO BE SENT TO RAINBOW BABIES AND CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL
ASSEMBLING NOTEPADS FOR A LOCAL SENIOR CENTER
AND SELLING LEMONADE AND HOT CHOCOLATE TO RAISE MONEY FOR AN ANIMAL SHELTER.
MARGOT'S TEACHER, JEN KUZMICKAS, WROTE TO US AND SAID, "SHE IS ONE AMAZING STUDENT THAT I FEEL SHOULD BE RECOGNIZED ON NEWS DEPTH!"
WELL, WE AGREE, AND FOR HER INITIATIVE AND CARING SPIRIT, WE'RE GIVING MARGOT KING THIS WEEK'S A-PLUS.
