NEWSDEPTH QUESTION OF THE WEEK: Inspired by our A Plus this week, we want to know: How are you helping your community?
Isabella, Westwood Elementary: I have been helping my community by picking up trash when it is on the ground. I also help my community by doing service projects with my 4H group and Girl Scout troop. In my 4H group I collect food cans and we donate them to the Geauga hunger task force. With my Girl Scout troop I do service projects like at cemeteries on Memorial Day handing out fliers at a Memorial Day presentation. This is how I help my community.
Camille, Claggett Middle School: I enjoyed your show this week! I would like to tell you about my A+ story. My family and I help out in Mexico at a food bank called 2 Fish. This is where we feed people who are less fortunate than we are here in the United States. It's a small community where the vast majority of people live in 3rd world conditions, without electricity and running water. Giving to people in this community helps me understand and appreciate how lucky I am.
Miles, Maryland Elementary: I am helping my community by participating in a choir called the Harmony Project. We sing at different places as fundraisers and also do different community projects such as cleaning up public places. Sometimes, we have certain events where all of the Harmony Project gets together to collaborate. And at the end of the season we do a really big project at the Ohio Theater!
Kristion, Glenwood Intermediate: I help in my community by plowing the driveways in the winter for elders. I do this so they don't get hurt if there is ice. I also rake leaves for the older people. My mom helps out too but she doesn't rake, just plows.
Lucas, Dodge Intermediate: I help my community by picking up all the trash and other things. I pick up trash and other things wherever I go, because trash pollutes the air and it’s bad.
