Bear with cubs spotted in Ohio

ONE ANIMAL THAT IS CLOSELY TRACKED ALL OVER OHIO IS THE BLACK BEAR. SINCE 1993 THE OHIO DEPARTMENT OF NATURAL RESOURCES HAS BEEN COUNTING SIGHTINGS OF THE BIG GUYS. THE MALE BEARS CAN GROW TO BE SIX FEET TALL WHEN STANDING ON THEIR BACK FEET, AND CAN WEIGH UP TO 700 POUNDS.   THE BEARS USED TO ROAM ALL ABOUT THE STATE, BUT HUNTERS AND EXPANDING BUSINESSES, PUSHED THEM OUT OF THEIR HABITATS HERE. BY THE 1850S THEY WERE COMPLETELY OUT OF THE STATE. THEY ARE NOW CONSIDERED AND ENDANGERED SPECIES.

IT IS BELIEVED THERE ARE ONLY BETWEEN 50 AND 100 OF THE BEARS LIVING IN OHIO NOW, WHICH IS WHY IT WAS SO EXCITING THAT WE HAVE VIDEO EVIDENCE OF THEM IN ASHTABULA COUNTY.   [VIDEO]   EVEN MORE EXCITING WERE THOSE TWO CUBS TRAILING BEHIND MOM. IT MEANS THAT THE BEARS ARE ALIVE AND THRIVING IN OHIO.

IF YOU THINK THAT’S AMAZING, WE HAD A WHOLE TEAM OF CUBS IN DOWNTOWN CLEVELAND LAST WEEK. THESE CUBS. [PHOTO] — THE CHICAGO CUBS BATTLED THE CLEVELAND INDIANS AT PROGRESSIVE FIELD IN THE FINAL GAMES OF THE WORLD SERIES. UP NEXT, WE RECAP THE THRILLING CONCLUSION OF BASEBALL’S CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES.
