Seventeen wild elephants travel half way across the world -- to begin life in their new home country.
The elephants were transferred from the African nation of Swaziland -- to new homes at three different zoos: in Dallas, Wichita, Kansas - and Omaha, Nebraska.
Zoo officials say they were in an overpopulated wildlife park and were in danger of dying from a severe drought. Still, animal rights activists called the move from the wild and their families to zoos inhumane. In a joint statement, the three zoos said they had to rapidly remove the elephants for their own wellbeing due to the deteriorating situation in Swaziland.
