Just days before the Oscars, a new study is shining a harsh light on the lack of diversity in Hollywood. Diversity, in this instance, just means having people who are different races or who have different cultures in a group or organization.
For the study, completed by the University of Southern California's Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, researchers studied *a lot* of TV. 414 films and series' to be exact.
The report found that out of more than 11,000 speaking roles studied, 66.5% were male compared to 33.5% that were female. Around 71% were white and just 12.2% were black.
When the group looked behind the cameras, they found that women and minorities were also under-represented as directors, writers and show creators in the industry.
