'Year in Space' Countdown

Mark your calendars! Scott Kelly is coming home from space after the longest stint in orbit of any astronaut in American history. Wednesday makes 327 days since astronaut Kelly and his crew launched from Kazakhstan to the International Space Station. And in his career...506 days in space!

This latest mission was designed to research the effects of long term space travel on the human body. Kelly is part of a twin study. His identical twin brother, Mark Kelly, remains on earth.

Researchers are studying the twins to determine how aging takes place differently in space. Scott Kelly is expected to return to Earth March 3rd.
