Archaeologists Find Ancient City in Honduras

Archaeologists in Honduras have begun excavations in what they believe to be Ciudad Blanco, or 'White City'. An archaeologist is someone who studies and examines ancient sites and objects to learn about the past.

From the air this appears to be an area of thick jungle but it is actually an ancient city that was hidden - asleep in the jungles of Honduras for hundreds of years.

Now, Honduran authorities, with assistance from international archaeologists, have begun to remove parts in order to study this civilization. Experts estimate that the material dates from the year 1,000 to 1,400 of our era.

The expedition found earth works, including an earthen pyramid as well as a collection of stone sculptures, thought to potentially have been burial offerings.
