We mentioned last week, the student protests on the University of Missouri campus. Now there's an update. Three 19 year olds have been arrested after posting racial threats on the social media platform Yik Yak.
The teens posted what they thought were anonymous messages on Yik Yak. The app is supposedly a place where users can start discussions with people who are within a few miles of their location. But what the teens didn't know... Yik Yak will work with police when users post threatening or harassing comments by providing identifying information.
So the teens were quickly found and arrested... and they're in big trouble, facing serious charges. Yik Yak representatives say they're still working to increase protective measures against cyberbullying and harassment.
