We're still a year from the next presidential election, but that doesn't mean it's too early for candidates to hit the campaign trail. Presidential hopefuls have been hosting town hall events in states across the country, looking to gain public support.
Town halls are meetings that provide a space for community members to interact with public or elected officials, and political candidates. The term town hall is derived from New England, where traditional town meetings have been held since the 17th century.
Ohio Governor John Kasich, who is running on the Republican ticket, is in Virginia this week speaking at the University of Richmond. While Democratic front runner Hillary Clinton visited New Hampshire at a town hall event, to talk about gun violence.
