A topic popping up in the news a lot over the past week - cyber espionage. Also known as cyber spying, cyber espionage is the use of computers to gain confidential, or secret, information.
China's president, Xi Jinping made his first trip to the United States to talk about cyber security with President Obama. The two leaders talked about past incidents where cyber espionage was alleged. Following their talks, President Obama announced that the U.S. and China reached an understanding to not conduct or support cyber espionage.
This is significant news coming after another big breach of data. Hackers recently stole 5.6 million fingerprints from a database of American government employees. Anyone with these records could check to see if a diplomat at a U.S. embassy is secretly an employee of an American intelligence agency.
Experts from the Department of Homeland Security, FBI, spy agencies and the U.S. military are meeting to figure out the fallout from this cyber-attack.
