NEWSDEPTH QUESTION OF THE WEEK:

This week on the show, we asked if you think students should be tested for drugs or alcohol during school events.

Gavin, Meadowlawn Elementary: Students should be tested for drugs and alcohol because people could be on drugs and do something very bad and get arrested. They could also steal something, crawl around, run on to the field or court, and be really crazy.  If they are tested for drugs, they wouldn't have to deal with the chaos.  If they are on drugs and they are tested, they won't be able to watch the game live. I think the people on drugs should be arrested because they are too young to take drugs.  If people aren't on drugs they will pass the test and be free to watch the game live, unlike the people on drugs.  I think it's fair because some people are too young to take the drugs.

Sophia, Columbus School for Girls: Yes, I do think that students should be tested for alcohol. I don't think that just students should be tested, also adults. In fact, I think that anyone over the age of 15 should be tested for alcohol at all school events. At 15, one enters high school and drinking becomes more likely.  Therefore I think that testing for alcohol would be a great idea.

Luke, Rushwood Elementary: It is pretty awesome that North Korea has its own time zone now. It’s cool they have it all to themselves. So it’s 3:10 as I’m writing this, so it’s 3:40am the next day for them! P.S. I think they should be tested because there are probably some people who do not drink out there and plus, they are too young. You can get in serious trouble for that.

Zander, Sherwood Elementary: Dear News Depth, I loved the petting zoo and the new style. You make news better and a lot more fun to listen to.

Joey, Maryland Elementary: I really liked and understood how Pope Francis ate dinner at the homeless shelter, because I do it every winter and Thanksgiving. My family makes pies, breakfast, and donate blankets for the homeless shelter.

Kirsten, Dodge Intermediate: They should spend more money on the military and they should spend it on medical supplies. Every year, millions of military people get hurt or wounded and they don't have stuff to help them. Just think how helpful this could be and would save thousands of people and dads and moms. Also we could buy more weapons and tanks. This could be helpful.

Ms. Kessen’s 3rd Grade Class: This was our first time ever watching NewsDepth and we absolutely loved it!!  We especially liked all of the science and technology stories.  It was neat to learn about all the new, amazing technology being invented.  We also enjoyed seeing News Cat.  We have a suggestion though. We think News Cat needs a friend!  Maybe News Dog or News Fish?  Thanks for delivering the great news and we look forward to the rest of our first season of NewsDepth!

Max, Chagrin Falls Intermediate: I thought it was so cool that there are brains the size of erasers! I also found it absolutely amazing that those tiny brains can save people from Alzheimer's! If you didn't know, Alzheimer's is a disease that causes people’s minds to click back to their past life. I felt quite moved that people are doing something to help people they don't even know!

Shyann, Riverside School: I liked the story about the fish. This means that there will be more fish and I can go fishing with my dad.

Joe, Riverside School: I like the story about the glaciers and how they used cameras to take pictures of it melting.

Noah, Chagrin Falls Intermediate: I also liked the Glacier Movement topic. I liked it because it was informative, and made the viewers (and me) wonder: what will people do to stop the glaciers from melting? Will they stop or try to stop it at all?

Jake, Rushwood Elementary: This was my first time watching NewsDepth. It was great. I love NewsDepth because when I watch the regular news it’s boring. But when I watch NewsDepth, it’s not boring it’s really cool. What I like about NewsDepth is that it talks about a lot of things. I really like how they talk about glaciers. And how glaciers are melting. That’s why I like NewsDepth.

Lydia, Pleasant Run Elementary: I don't agree with the presidents decisions on some things actually most things but I have my own opinion and that's what makes us unique. I liked todays show because it told us what was happening in the world but made it more simple. I am proud that at least one woman is still in army training because it's a battle of the genders men think they can do more than  women and are stronger. That's not true there are women that are changing the world by finding cures to cancer and taking action. I have a question, can you make a segment about down syndrome and how we should not use the word "retarded" because I have a cousin with down syndrome and its hurtful and stings when I hear that word being used. Please tell what that word means and why we shouldn't use it.
